Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been questioned on his transfer options this summer which included a direct question on Declan Rice and whether he is worth the valuation set by West Ham.
“I can’t talk about players who are not in the club,” Arteta responded after being asked if the Hammer was worth the fee being demanded by the Hammers. “I prefer not to say anything.”
West Ham are likely to accept any offer which passes the £100m mark with payment structure, the up front fee and the amount of transfer fee versus add-ons being the tie breaker should more than one club bid.
The Daily Mirror claim that Manchester City is holding back from putting in a formal offer unless they can reassurances from the Rice camp that he wants to go to the trebles winners.
The Rice camp insist Dec remains open minded about his next club and claim that Arsenal is not a forgone conclusion.
The cynics believe this is the latest ploy to encourage a thirds bid from Arsenal to pass that all important £100m total and that Arsenal remains his personal preference.
