Barometer Back For Game Week 20
The barometer is back on 6foot2, which provides an alternative view of the season, comparing this season’s results directly with those of last season. Many of you with be familiar with the format, but for those that are not here is a brief explanation.
We compare the home and away results of this season so far and compare them against the same fixtures last season, keeping a running total of whether we have achieved more or less points for the same games. The barometer then assumes that we will achieve the same results as last season for the remaining games and predicts our final points tally and approximate finishing league position. The fixtures are obviously not identical, so we replace the relegated teams with the promoted teams according to their finishing order; Burnley for Leicester, Sheff Utd for Leeds and Luton for Southampton.
Week 20 Barometer
The current barometer is shown below and considering we were poor last season and flying high this season, we can be excused for expecting a higher prediction. However, of the 18 games we have remaining, we only achieved 14 points in the corresponding fixtures last season, 3 wins and 5 draws. Therefore, there is plenty of opportunity for improvement. For example, five or more points from our next three games against Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Man United would be a better achievement than last season and would push the barometer points prediction upwards.
