Barometer – Bournemouth Week 22

The barometer compares the home and away results of this season so far and compare them against the same fixtures last season, keeping a running total of whether we have achieved more or less points for the same games. The barometer then assumes that we will achieve the same results as last season for the remaining games and predicts our final points tally and approximate finishing league position. The fixtures are obviously not identical, so we replace the relegated teams with the promoted teams according to their finishing order; Burnley for Leicester, Sheff Utd for Leeds and Luton for Southampton.

Another dip, following the dismal performance in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, since we beat them 2-0 at home last season. The current prediction does seem low for a team still sitting in sixth place and it’s just the way the fixtures have gone this year. However, in the games we have left, our results in corresponding fixtures last year only yielded us a meagre 10 points; 2 wins, 4 draws and 10 defeats. Surely, we are going to improve massively on that – aren’t we?
