Barometer – Man Utd Week 23

The barometer compares the home and away results of this season so far and compare them against the same fixtures last season, keeping a running total of whether we have achieved more or less points for the same games. The barometer then assumes that we will achieve the same results as last season for the remaining games and predicts our final points tally and approximate finishing league position. The fixtures are obviously not identical, so we replace the relegated teams with the promoted teams according to their finishing order; Burnley for Leicester, Sheff Utd for Leeds and Luton for Southampton.

Week 23 Barometer

No change in the predicted total for this week’s barometer as we lost both this season and last away to Man Utd. perhaps a better performance than recent weeks but finishing was most definitely on their side. The current prediction continues to seem low for a team in seventh place, but in the 15 games we have left, our results in corresponding fixtures last year only yielded us a meagre 10 points; 2 wins, 4 draws and 9 defeats. Surely, we are going to improve massively on that – aren’t we? A win against Arsenal, who we drew 2-2 with last year, and even a point against Forest, where we lost 1-0, would have a positive effect on the dial.
