West Ham coach Billy McKinlay has admitted that the Hammer didn’t play well enough in all aspects of the game against Bayern Leverkusen at the weekend adding the Hammers started slowly, gave away a poor goal initially and didn’t really recover from that.
Although he stressed, he wasn’t making an excuse he explained the players were up at 5 o’clock in the morning and up travelling straight to the game in Germany pretty much.
“Our plane was cancelled yesterday and that meant we had a really early start this morning. There’s nothing we could do about it – circumstances out of our control. It maybe played a part in the start of the game, which we didn’t recover from, but we’ve got plenty of other things to work on as well.” McKinlay added.
West Ham came off a very poor second to the Bundesliga side on Saturday losing 4-0 over the weekend.
If this was grudge match between the team Tim Steinden built verses one built by Moyes there was only one winner!
