David Moyes has admitted that Emerson is a new injury doubt for Sunday after he suffered from a knock to his knee.
At his pre-match press conference, the manager revealed “Emerson had a knock to his knee and we just need to check how he is. He’s been out today but we’ll need to see how he is.”
The manager did have some good news by confirming he will have Nayef Aguerd available for selection again when his West Ham team heads to Leicester City for Sunday’s Premier League season finale. The Morocco centre-back was absent for last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Leeds United with a dead leg, but has recovered in time to be considered for the trip to King Power Stadium.
“Nayef is available for Sunday and he’s trained today (Friday),” Moyes confirmed. “We expect him to be back.
“He missed out against Leeds with a dead leg he picked up in the game on the Thursday at Alkmaar.”
Moyes gave an update on Scamacca ruling him out for the remainder of the season “Gianluca Scamacca is still recovering from his knee operation,” the manager continued. “I don’t think he’s too far away now, but not quite close enough. He had his operation about four weeks ago and he’s still got a few weeks of rehab to do but hopefully he’ll be back ready at the start of pre-season.”
