Previous West Ham transfer target Denis Zakaria is now speaking to Monaco over a move to the French club.
Earlier this week 6foot2 dismissed a report that West Ham had reached agreement with Juventus and now we starting to understand why.
Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Zakaria is now speaking to the Ligue 1 about a potential move.
If the move goes through, Zakaria would reunite with Adi Hutter, who he worked with during their time together at Borussia Monchengladbach.
In turn that move could free up Monaco defensive midfielder Youssouf Fofana who West Ham are actively now pursuing.
Fofana started his career with various youth academies in Paris, before joining Strasbourg in 2017. He made his debut for Strasbourg in 2018, and played 30 games for them, scoring three goals. He transferred to Monaco in 2020, for a fee of €15 million. He has scored two goals in 111 appearances for Monaco so far. He has also represented France at various youth levels, and made his senior debut in 2022 and was part of the France squad that reached the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
