Reports in Germany are claiming that West Ham United have been turned down in their approach to St Louis City F.C to hire their Sports Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. Kicker.de have claimed that two Premier League clubs have shown interested in hiring the German and one of them is West Ham United, the other being Nottingham Forest.
Kicker claim that West Ham have approached the owners of St Louis, who gave them a friendly rejection. The Hammers are now forced to look else well in their search for a Director of Football
Pfannenstiel has been with St Louis since 2020 joining the club to launch their franchise in the MLS starting from scratch and building the club up from nothing to taking part in their inaugural season this year. St Louis have made a great start in the MLS Western Conference and currently sit 2nd in the league, only one point behind top of the table Seattle Seahawks, but with one game in hand. He made a name for himself at TSG Hoffenheim, joining them in 2011 as head of International recruitment and scouting before moving on to Fortuna Dusseldorf in 2018.
As a player he holds the record for being the only player to play to appear in all six football confederations. CAF, UEFA, AFA, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and OCEANIA. During his time in the U.K he appeared for Bradford Park Avenue in the Northern league and was involved in a collision that resulted in his heart stopping.
