West Ham’s players will not receive any financial bonuses if they win the Europa Conference League the Daily Mail claims.
All Premier League players have performance-based incentives inserted into their contracts however, West Ham have managed to avoid including such bonuses in individual contracts as they aim to win their first European trophy since 1965.
The main reason is due to the Conference League being so new, having only started in 2021. While they are clauses for final League position finish positions, Europa League and Champion League exist players contracts are mute on the subject of the Europa Conference League.
Players who joined West Ham last summer after the creation of the new competition also do not have a bonus clause but that could change soon as agents get wise to adding new clauses.
West Ham could pocket over £20m for winning the Europa Conference League plus a place in the group stages of the Europa League next season.
