Nikola Vlasic deal financials revealed

Hammer Nikola Vlasic is on the verge of being sold to Torino this week with a medical imminent and an announcement to follow.

Despite reports from Italy to the contrary, 6foot2 can reveal the actual financials of the deal is €9m (£7.75m) transfer fee and €3m (£2.6m) of ‘very tough’ add-ons, our club insider confirmed.

Torino initially had a 12-month loan from West Ham with a €13m option to buy but did not exercise that option at the end of last season.

As part of the loan deal the Serie A agreed to pay 85% of his reported £70,000 per week wages.

The club source also revealed that the Hammers agreed to pay CSKA Moscow €26m (£22.4m) back in 2021 and not the €30m euros (£25.7m) plus €9m euros (£7.7m) in add-ons wrongly reported at the time.

Vlasic was a David Moyes signing in August 2021, he signed a five-year contract, and the transfer £22.4m fee was amortised over the life of the contract meaning £8.96m has already been written off on paper.

The transfer has described as ‘Another disastrous trade’ by the same club insider.

West Ham still owe some money to Russian club CSKA Moscow for Vlasic’s transfer to West Ham.

Last year CSKA said “West Ham still does not fulfill its obligations and owes us a big sum for Nikola Vlasic’s transfer. We offered a significant number of options for solving the problem and tried to take into account the Interests of all parties, but our British colleagues took an overly formalistic position. At this moment we have exhausted all the possibilities of pre-trial settlement and we will be forced to send an application to FIFA, initiating a case of West Ham’s failure to fulfill its obligations,” CSKA communications director Kirill Braido said.

In West Ham accounts the club say: “Creditors arising from player transfers include a total of £7.8m payable to Russian football clubs. The club is currently prevented from making these payments due to the sanctions imposed by the UK Government”

That sum includes €5m (£4.3m) to Spartak for the loan Alex Kral from Spartak Moscow suggesting £3.5m is still owed to CSKA Moscow for Vlasic. That amount will probably be held in escrow to satisfy FIFA.
