Palace (A) – Preview, Predictions, Injury News & More

It’s been a difficult week as we went out of Europe and dropped behind in the chase for qualifying again next year. The manner of the defeats to both Leverkusen away and Fulham were disappointing but the players gave us some hope with an incredible first half performance against the Germans in the second leg, signs of how we can play when on the front foot.

What we did find out, if we didn’t already know, was that we need to rely on the bench if we are going to play a high energy game, meaning we need to keep fringe players motivated and not flog to death the same eleven week in week out.

It’s back to the Premier League today, with our dwindling hopes of European qualification hanging by a thread. A win against Palace is essential if we are going to remain in the chase, anything else and it is almost certainly over, bearing in mind our remaining fixtures.

Injury & Squad News

West Ham:
Paqueta and Emerson return after missing out on Thursday due to suspensions. George Earthy is ruled out, late fitness tests will probably decide 5 other players, with their supposed chances of being available here: Bowen (75%), Areola (50%), Dinos (50%), Aguerd (25%) and Phillips (25%).

May have up to to 8 players out. Sam Johnstone, Franca, Doucoure, Lerma & Guehi are not expected to figure, while Richards, Hughes and Ward are likely to have late fitness tests.

Premier Form

West Ham: D-D-L-D-W-L
West ham are currently sitting 14th in the form table after the home defeat to Fulham last weekend.

Palace: L-D-D-L-L-W
Palace are a place behind us in the form table, but gained a remarkable 1-0 win at Anfield last weekend.

What Results Do For West Ham

Win: A win takes us above both United and Newcastle into 6th spot, having played two games more.
Draw: A draw would mean we stay in eighth.
Lose:  A loss would mean we stay in eighth but would see us drop to ninth if Chelsea get at least a point at Arsenal Tuesday.
