West Ham could double their money on Lucas Paqueta in a year if he is sold for £85m
The Hammers bought Paqueta from Lyon for £36m plus £18m of add-ons, but only approx £4m have been activated so far, leaving a commitment of £40m
Lyon does hold a 10% sell-on clause on profit worth around £4.5m to the French club, but that would still leave £40.5m allowing the Hammers to double their money on the Brazilian playmaker.
Manchester City offered under £70m in their first verbal bid to West Ham which was quickly rejected,
They have been told it would take a bid of £85m to change their minds and give up their top signing from last summer.
If Paqueta is sold for £85m, it would leave outbound sales reaching £226m this summer, of which £66m has already been committed for Edson Alvarez and James Ward Prowse in transfer fees and add-ons.
