West Ham is close to signing Carlos Borges from Manchester City, but nothing else is tight as it stands, with the Hammers quoted ridiculous prices after selling Declan Rice for £105m.
Borges joined City from Sporting in 2014 and has impressed at youth level. He has represented Portugal Under-19s and is noted for his pace and trickery. Man City will include a buyback clause. The 19-year-old winger has also been targeted by Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt and is regarded as one of the most talented players in any English youth academy.
The Portugal Under-19 international is said to be frustrated at the Etihad with Pep Guardiola’s offering him little chance of getting regular first-team opportunities.
Carlos Borges won Premier League 2 Player of the Season for 22/23. He netted 21 goals and added 11 assists in 24 matches. He is also a two-time Premier League 2 champion with Manchester City.
The Hammers will pay a package of under £15m of a transfer fee plus add-ons.
