West Ham have agreed a deal in principle for Tim Steidten to become the club’s new technical director
The Hammers are expected to make a formal announcement in the next 24 hours as soon as he signs his contract.
The German has already visited West Ham’s training facilities at Rush Green.
It is three months today since Steidten left Bayern 04 Leverkusen with immediate effect, and that might not be a coincidence.
Those three months might have been his notice period/ gardening leave, where he was forbidden to work for anyone else.
He is rumoured to have had a fallout with Leverkusen Simon Rolfes after his relationship with his counterpart deteriorated after Rudi Völler, Leverkusen’s Sporting managing director, stepped down in the summer of 2022.
Steidten is quoted at the time as saying he wanted a new project where he had more say over decisions.
He oversaw signings like Florian Wirtz, Moussa Diaby, Jeremie Frimpong and Exequiel Palacios – among others – during his time at Leverkusen.
